This year I am doing NCEA Level 1 Art. My kaupapa, or topic, for this year will be LGBTQ+ equality.
I'm choosing this topic because I am very openly LGBTQ+ and feel that the treatment people like me get in school and in our general community because of our sexuality and gender identity is unfair.
I will be working with painting and design media.
From line one, I choose Sofia Minson and Tony Fomison. From line two, I choose Claude Monet and Jacob Yikes.
I'll be studying John Heartfield out of the artists from my kaupapa.
This is the brainstorm of things I could do with my kaupapa:
(Sorry for the hard to read handwriting, there's writing on the back of the page)
My subject matter is going to be nature. I feel like I can do a lot with natural scenes in regard to the topic I picked.
ok, I can see how this could work quite well! flowers are the sexual organs of plants, does that come into play here?
ReplyDeleteTony Fomison has this beautiful simple but dramatic paint style. he paints on hessian and other quite textured surfaces. Chiaroscuro which is a term used in Art history is something he employs brilliantly.
I am hoping you have collected together some plant forms to start with? I will see you tomorrow or friday and we can chat more then.
